FZ20 to max zoom faster By now, I think most FZ20 owners have seen either here or on other forums that the camera can start quicker if you want to go to 12x zoom while using 256MB memory cards instead of larger ones. That seemed to be impossible to do with 1GB memory cards until now. I've just discovered a way of starting my camera directly to 12x magnification while using my 1GB memory card. It makes it possible for me to take the first picture at 12x magnification in about five seconds. Taking the first picture at 12x zoom normally would take twice that time. I do it by setting the mode dial to the review mode before starting the camera. After turning the camera on, I change the mode dial to "P", and then hold the switch for zooming in the position for zooming in until the camera is ready to take pictures. Maybe somebody else already discovered this as well, but I've never seen anything about it anywhere. I guess this isn't a problem unless you discover a squirrel or something else running around when your camera is turned off. Then saving five seconds can be handy. The old procedure for starting the camera faster to 12x zoom is simpler, but only works when you use a 256MB memory card. (It might work for smaller ones as well). You just turn the camera on, and then hold the switch for zooming in the position for zooming in until the camera is ready for taking pictures. Then the camera can take it's first picture at 12x magnification after three to four seconds. I remember reading somewhere that using 512MB cards would make it possible to start to 6x magnification in about four to five seconds using the old procedure, but I haven't tried that myself. __________________ Simon FZ20+uv+polarizer+wired remote+RS232 remote; GIMP for all editing
